This is what it is all about! 

For us at Collingwood it is all about Building Lasting Partnerships. This is something I wrote about recently on linked in, and it was inspired by a conversation that I had with a candidate who has become a client. I had worked with this person, first of all to help to place them in their current job and then to help them to hire people to build their team.

Time and again we see the same thing, and it is true - it is a candidates market right now. They have options, and many skills are in demand. In my market cyber professionals, IT/OT Engineers, Cloud and Software developers...there is an embarrassment of riches when it comes to opportunities. The big thing that has made the difference with the candidates I am working with has been that I know my client. I can give the candidate my clients story, their brand, culture, aspirations, challenges, successes and failings, the conversation becomes much more than just a job. It is a career move, it is the chance to up skill, to progress and to find their home in a place that matches what they are looking for.

To hear first hand that the candidates I have worked with are making a positive impact is incredibly rewarding, and to hear from them that they are happy and that the move has lived up to its promise is incredibly satisfying.

But it does not happen by accident, and again it comes back to building a partnership. The time spent getting to know the business we are working with, and vice versa is so important. Each hiring manager, even within the same company, is looking for something slightly different, and it is understanding this which is key.

When I look at Collingwood, it has amazed me in my first 18 months just how many long term relationships there are. How many clients have returned, it could be within months, or it could even be a couple of years, but the positive impression lasts and they keep coming back...

Being retained and working as their executive search partner is crucial to this. The time spent in research, weekly or bi-weekly updates, providing market data and insights to help reach a decision is vital and we can speak about this with enthusiasm and sincerity to every client we are fortunate enough to work with. There is one other point that is incredibly important as well, now more than ever with the "war on talent" and "great resignation". The candidates we work with are headhunted, they are likely to be passive and therefore while in demand they are most likely to be at the start of their job search, or have not even begun. Unlike an advert response which will almost certainly be in multiple recruitment processes.

What does this mean for you? It means you have a better chance of having more control of the recruitment process. Less options means more focus on you, working with us means all parties have an intermediary guiding and updating everyone throughout the process.
