A couple of weeks ago I listened to one of my favourites podcast "Deliciously ways to feel better” on my commute to work. The guest of that episode was Catherine Price, a journalist and speaker, who talked about the relationship we have with our phone, what we can do to achieve a more balanced relation with screen time in our day to day, and the power of fun.
What I found very interesting during her interview was the connection she made between fun and resilience. I have always believed that resilience came from learning from mistakes and failures. Every mistake can teach us something important, so I tend to look for the lesson in every situation.
However, I think this new approach to build resilience with fun is a gamechanger for me! It takes effort to plan (we have the assumption that is effortless) fun, ensuring our leisure time is filled with things we really enjoy (or as much as possible). Noticing and creating these moments of fun, will provide positive emotions that will help us cope with the ups and downs, and bounce back from challenges.
