I have talked about emotional intelligence quite a bit over the past few months. The reason for this, is because I feel that it is really important at the best of times, but especially in the middle of a global pandemic - emotional support is really important.

I have read so many articles over the past few months all of which maybe over complicate emotional intelligence, what it is and how to apply it. I came across this article and found the message and definition of emotional intelligence beautifully simple - "be kind; everyone is on their own journey"

Spending so much of my time speaking with candidates over the course of this year, I have heard many stories of leaders adapting to the circumstances of this year in different ways, some more successful than others. The leaders that have adapted and been most successful this year all seem to have one thing in common, they have been kind and genuinely cared about the members of their team.

Emotional intelligence can be as complex or as simple as you want to make it. Be kind to those around you, care about their wellbeing and do everything in your power to motivate, inspire and create an environment built for success. This is sure to increase morale, productivity and ultimately the success of your teams.
