In our 6th week of lock down and with the April showers returning, the start of the week felt a bit like ground hog day. I would also say that my conversations with various leaders suggest they are becoming battle weary. That is until today!
I thought I would share some sunshine with you provided by a leader within a global technology client.
Whilst they have seen revenues drop significantly, the whole company have spent the last few weeks being invested in both personally and professionally. Countless team webinars to look ahead and plan for the return of customer demand. Continuous improvement sessions to focus them on making their businesses healthy and ensuring that they are in the best shape possible to reap the rewards of an upturn. Sessions to focus on filling personal skills gaps, fun sessions to bring their teams closer and even mindfulness workshops to look after mental well-being. All in all this client has recognised the need for all employees to have a strong and fulfilling purpose through these challenging weeks and months. Fantastic!
We also discussed the clear benefits that we have been enjoying from remote working too and my client said their sales process is starting to benefit from technical demonstrations being hosted via webinars. They are closing sales with no site visits necessary!
There have been many dark clouds during the last few months but I was energised by this client having taken such positive actions to focus their business on the future and not in this horrible present!
According to Michal Wisniewski, Founder and Managing Director of FLOCK, it’s the growing industries that are looking to hire at the moment. He said: “I can see increased hiring activity in public sectors, manufacturing of food and health-related products, grocery shops and tech businesses that have contracts with public sectors.” His SaaS company, FLOCK, is an employee retention and productivity platform that has seen an uplift in users now that more companies are operating remotely. He expects similar ‘enabling companies’ such as Zoom and House Party to recruit more over the coming months.
