Is the 2016 hangover going to continue? From the results of this survey and the pessimistic views of high food industry figures, it looks like it will!
Yes we continue to be in a difficult market, however lets be positive! What NPD opportunities are there? What new trends are emerging that we can jump on?
After attending food trade shows in recent months the excitement of new product launches certainly outweigh the negatives in my opinion.
Foreign investors still see the UK as an opportunity and importing of products is another opportunity.
Yes, cutting costs is going to be a priority for some, but NPD can't be sacrificed.
British manufacturers – including food and drink firms – are preparing for “another bumpy ride” in 2017, as almost half expect more risks than opportunities over the coming year, EEF, the manufacturers’ organisation revealed. Just 23% of manufacturers expected opportunities to outnumber risks, according to EEF’s annual Executive Survey found. Nearly half (47%) were expecting the economic conditions to deteriorate over the year ahead. Three-quarters of firms (74%) expected fluctuating exchange rates to be a risk this year, while 66% said rising input costs would impact their business. Almost half said they were concerned about volatility in other major markets.
