As the golfing season starts to get into full swing, Collingwood's Consumer Products and Retail Practice Manager, Chris Barker met with Roger Wolfe, Managing Director for YUMAX Ltd, Master Agent and Golf Consultant for Nikon in the UK. Nikon is one of the main Patrons of The Open and has had a strong brand presence and association with the golf sector for a number of years.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF NIKON SPONSORING THE OPEN? There are the obvious benefits of the brand presence through the advertising boards, the shop in the tented village, the renting of binoculars to patrons as well as being able to use the corporate hospitality facilities for entertaining clients. However, one of the main, and less visible benefits is the number of professional photographers in one place for the whole week. We gain access to the media centre and are able to offer advice to all the photographers on their equipment. We also offer free trials of our brand new products to the photographers for the week. This is a great chance to get these new products in their hands and show them the value they can add to their work.
