Companies and employees can obviously explain what they do and how they do it; but very few can clearly articulate why. "Why" is not what you make or sell, your financial results, sales growth or profit margins - those are the results.
But understanding your why - the belief or cause that inspires you to do what you do, creates a core purpose which drives the what and inspires the how. And importantly it delivers the results you are looking for...
Most of us believe that those companies with a strong sense of purpose achieve long-term business success. According to research 90% of those people employed by companies with a strong sense of purpose believe their companies perform better financially, have a stronger brand identity, a more clearly defined culture and values and stronger employee and customer satisfaction levels which compares to just 49% of employees whose companies do not have a strong sense of purpose (source Deloitte Global Human Capital Trends, 2014).
