With all the recent focus on new build transport and infrastructure investments across the UK. Are we missing some of the basics?
Many highly publicised infrastructure projects such as HS2, Crossrail, Hinkley C etc. are gaining all the headlines presently. The focus seems to be about new build, creating more and moving quicker.
I found this article very refreshing. Rather than the usual focus on crating more, this piece is focused on saving and minimising the use of resource. Making us more self aware of our energy impact and educating us in the process.
There is no doubt that some investment in our energy infrastructure is required. The need for new capacity is obvious to meet demand but I believe this demand can be decreased by energy saving methods and education.
The national debate about infrastructure often focuses on the big plans for airports, railways and roads. Improving the great networks and hubs of Britain is, of course, essential for our future prosperity. But, as ICE has rightly pointed out, investing in our energy sector is just as important.
