One of the main reasons I have loved working within the building products market for so long is finding out about the technological innovations that are introduced.

Early this year Tesla unveiled their new solar roof tile to the market.  Now LafargeHolcim are the latest manufacturer to drive innovation in the renewables sector.

The team behind this new product have claimed that the concrete based facade system has the capability to double the energy generated by more traditional roof-based solar panels.  All this and one would conclude that it would be lighter and equally as maintenance free as more traditional solar offerings.

Potentially great news from the industry and an attractive proposition for developers and contractors when specifying their projects, especially given the need to drive down a projects carbon footprints.
