As with many things in life having a crystal ball would be beneficial, to say the least. Most industries are changing quickly at the moment, technology is the main driver for this, having said that I also think mindsets are now more open to change. 'We are doing it this way because that's how we have always done it...'!
Construction is a good example of this (not everyone I hasten to add), but there have been some fairly big shifts in this market. BIM springs to mind as does off site construction. Currently, most people have more than an eye on 3-D printing, immediately below this article is a link to a piece I published in April that I thought may complement Alan's article, also below.
It's a fascinating topic that will know doubt have a big impact on the market, the question is how big will the impact be and in what way!?!
Off site manufacture is often proposed as the new construction method, but what about 3D printing to manufacture exact building parts, or whole buildings from a linked BIM model? Sci-fi or is it the next evolution?
