I enjoyed reading this article, it highlights to me how fast things have changed over the last decade and the impact this has had on leadership.
There is no hiding the fact that leadership has become harder, well maybe not harder in terms of pressure but you need a wider spread of skills and a different type of vision.
The main driver behind this is there is not fixed point of success anymore, there is no one strategy that can navigate our current economic and geopolitical landscape.
Being able to lead for the short, medium and long-term, takes a new set of skills and strength of a different nature.
In the traditional corporate model, strong leaders pursued a singular vision through the strong command of an organization. Today, we live in a time of rapid change, when products and services often become obsolete overnight, and competition includes startups and companies in adjacent industries–the traditional leadership archetypes need not apply.
