The Government is coming under increasing pressure to close the gap between the amount of public money being spent on transport projects across the country.
Recently released figures state that the amount of funding secured for London's new Elizabeth Line or Crossrail as previously named, outweighs transport spend on all of the projects across Northern England.
The figures indicate that spending in London and the South East dwarf spending in the North by a factor of six to one.
Surely these figures need to be addressed to realise the dream of a truly Northern Powerhouse.
