We have been successfully using a different range of personality tests or psychometric assessment tools in our recruitment process for over 11 years. Even so, I still find that very few companies really value their use and prefer to rely on their personal "gut feel". They definitely should not provide a "computer says no" opportunity to any line manager and, if used as part of a well thought out recruitment process, they can discover behavioural traits that you will never find through interviewing alone.
We do have some clients who have invested significantly to have their own assessment tools developed to align to their core culture, values and behaviours and I have been really impressed at their effectiveness both in selecting the right candidates to achieve their Vision but also for identifying future potential.
