What a great use of technology. Developers, architects and contractors are all targeted on a projects carbon footprint. Massive savings (or profits, which ever way you want to look at it) are made by stripping out as much carbon as possible. Additionally, much of our industry is aware of the governments plans to make BIM2 compulsory.
Consulting engineer Mott MacDonald has developed what it says is the first carbon calculator capable of measuring the carbon footprints of building information modelling (BIM) designed assets. The Carbon Portal will help provide a more effective service to clients who recognise the value of carbon reduction, Mott MacDonald claims. It will show where savings can be made at both planning and design stages.
